Also on Friday, Trump signed an executive order that seeks to ensure that Venezuelan oil revenue remains protected from being used in judicial proceedings.

The executive order, made public on Saturday, says that if the funds were to be seized for such use, it could “undermine critical U.S. efforts to ensure economic and political stability in Venezuela.” Venezuela has a history of state asset seizures, ongoing U.S. sanctions and decades of political uncertainty.

i can imagine this being an area where the separation of powers actually rears its head.

the US government is all about asset forfeiture. the courts allow it, the lawmakers codify it, and the executive does it. they all work together with the eager efficiency of desperate lovers.

but built into that is the assurance that each branch gets their taste of that sweet plunder. not an equal split, but none is left out.

unless im misunderstanding the EO, this is like the executive saying "no, it's all mine, you can't even ask how much there is."
