Their plan is for a pilot in 2027 with a rollout in 2029. Here's to hoping we get it sooner!
All I want is some widely accepted and easy to use payment method, that I can use instead of american companies like Visa/MasterCard/PayPal. If the digital euro gets us there, let's go!
Yes, Wero would be a PayPal replacement, but I highlighted "widely accepted" for a reason. So far I didn't see a single online shop where I could use it for payment. Also most banks don't support it. As long as it stays that way, it is close to useless to me.
Also we need european alternatives to Visa and MasterCard, which Wero doesn't even aim to be.
All in all: There ist still a long way to go... :(
