That's a, uh, very... capitalist (and thus original, appropriately, I suppose) interpretation of the term 'liberal'.

Don't get me wrong - Martin Luther was a chud too, and of the scions of the protestant reformation, honestly probably the least appealing to modern moral sensibilities.
But I really think you're softballing the early 16th century Catholic Church here.
