General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

The time to leave Twitter was when it was called X.

This is like saying it's time to leave the Titanic after it snaps in two pieces.

Did you see the part where she reiterated she's been calling for politicians to get off Twitter since long before Musk bought it?

Best time to get off Xitter was when Musk bought it. The second best time is now :)

Other than Nazis, who uses Twitter?

[–] Zombie@feddit.uk 12 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Zionists? Oh, sorry, you said other than Nazis. Er... Paedos and bots?

It's still used extensively as a promotional and self-publication tool. It's hard to shake the status of a platform that was the de-facto place to find news about a person or business for more than a decade, unfortunately.

Weird I've never used it and never will

Edit: and definitely think less of people who do

I'm from Canada. My own government uses "X" as a means of contact. I think it is disgusting and I'm worried my countrymen do not have the know-how to change this.

They just need to as a minimum share on BlueSky too. And then, only essentials on Xitter, before exiting once BlueSky kills xitter off.

Not that Blue Sky is good, but it's better to have a non Nazi centralised system.

Sadly, this is almost certainly the case. As it is with everyone else. The “learning curve” of one app is about all most people can stand. They’d rather support fascism than learn a new app.

It's been time to leave for half a decade.

Had to look up who she is. She's the one who supported the chicken coup then got kicked out of the cabinet by Starmer over a lost mobile.

There is some historical things I do not agree with her on, but she's correct here.

That was as soon as musk bought it. Anyone who is still there now didnt mind the nazis and pedos around them.

Grok's not going to have anyone to talk to but Elon, and a bunch of other bots.

[–] VitoRobles@lemmy.today 2 points 3 months ago

And also generate gore and CP.

[–] Microtonal_Banana@lemmy.zip 5 points 3 months ago

Its long past time. I quit the day Elon took over.

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 4 points 3 months ago

It was time to do so the day Elon took over. Y'all need to keep up.
