Yes along with her husband (my uncle) he is former police and was fired for showing photos of a girl that was killed in a car accident and joking about it. He still claims that he was setup.

[–] FistingEnthusiast@lemmynsfw.com 54 points 3 months ago (1 children)

He probably was, by someone halfway decent who knew that nobody like him should be police

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 54 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (3 children)

It was over 20 years ago but I do believe he was drinking at a bar and showed it unknowingly to a family member of the girl.

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 11 points 3 months ago (1 children)

No, they are broke af. And they have 3 kids, 2 girls and 1 boy who are as rude and hateful as them. I’m sure they will fight over there inheritance of dirt.

[–] TheBat@lemmy.world 6 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Whoa, you're just spilling tea everywhere. 😅

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 6 points 3 months ago

Yep, I don’t give a hoot about them. Family or not, I could easily fill this sub up with posts from people in my town. But I limit myself to going on facebook to just once a day for a few mins.

[–] Hypnotoad_@sh.itjust.works 3 points 3 months ago

Sounds like the universe worked this one out

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 2 points 3 months ago

ICE isn't law enforcement, they do not enforce any law but instead are the modern day gestapo/SS.

[–] b_tr3e@feddit.org 1 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Just because everyone is repeating it all over it still isn't an accurate analogy. The Gestapo operated secretly. They usually came at night. The thugs acting illegaly but with impunity were the SA, immediately after Hitler got in charge, 1933, and before national socialist legislation like the Nürnberger Rassengesetze and the Ermächtigungsgesetz were active.

[–] TigerAce@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

You say that but the stories I heard from my grandparents was completely different. The Gestapo did many razzia's during the day. My great grandfather was taken this way for smuggling downed allied pilots back to England. He was tortured for 2 weeks, then sent to Birkenau where he died. He lived in Zeeland The Netherlands and the Gestapo did raids on all the farms on a weekly basis. My family usually got tipped off by the first farm on the road as some farms were required to have a phone in case of an invasion by the allied and the Germans needed a phone nearby to report to HQ. But he got snitched by his neighbor. My grandfather from the other side of the family did sapper tasks in the resistance, blowing up railway tracks and communication lines. The Gestapo was actively hunting them (luckily without success) out in the open, executing random civilians as a warning. Both the Gestapo, SS and SD. Everyone knew who the Gestapo were, they always drove the same cars.

If she supports enforcing the law, them she won't mind the ICE bastards having to face the music. Put up, or STFU, auntie.

[–] commie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 24 points 3 months ago

can I have her email address and/or phone number? I am trying to sign up for some shady services and I would rather not give mine out

[–] Hayduke@lemmy.world 22 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago) (1 children)

How is that first sentence a question? It’s giving me a Ron Burgandy vibe. Am I just looking at it wrong?

[–] Chozo@fedia.io 11 points 3 months ago

Any sentence with the word "who" in it is automatically a question, duh?

[–] TheDemonBuer@lemmy.world 21 points 3 months ago

Let's all kindly remind these ding dongs that this murderer was a federal agent, not police. Not that it would have been ok if they had been police. If a police officer had committed this act, they also would have to face murder charges.

[–] NachBarcelona@piefed.social 20 points 3 months ago

That's not a thin line auntie

Yes she is. Along with 90% of my family and 99% of my home town are this way.

[–] Formfiller@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago

This is the Fox News headline:

[–] 18107@aussie.zone 5 points 3 months ago (5 children)

I also support law enforcement. I don't support ICE because they violate laws instead of enforcing.

This is, however, an awful time to be making such a statement even if that was the intended meaning.

[–] PineRune@lemmy.world 23 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Law enforcement actively supports ICE, therefore your support for them is also support for ICE.

[–] 18107@aussie.zone 2 points 3 months ago

Cops and corrupt judges support politicians. They may have claimed the title "law enforcement", but they don't seem to care about laws. I support the people who are actually enforcing laws, not the ones arresting innocent people.

Exactly. Everything is so binary to conservatives. Sex, abortion, religion etc…. It’s like they have never experienced anything outside of their front door. I support LE too, to a degree. My tax dollars go to it and they aren’t always doing stupid shit. I have had many experiences with them, both good and terrifying (weapons drawn). They should hold themselves to the highest standards, and they often don’t.

ICE, on the other hand, can go jump off a cliff. Bunch of untrained Neanderthals with deadly weapons who hide behind masks like cowards. They are half-wit gestapo.

[–] captainlezbian@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago

In theory I can imagine a scenario in which the cops don't suck. But one of the most important and unrealistic elements of that is cops would need to hold each other accountable for going too far or other ways in which they might damage the reputation of the profession. Widespread distrust of cops isn't some anti police conspiracy or cultural thing, it's a direct result of police protecting each other when they behave horrendously.
