How does this keep happening to a band literally called “Rage Against the Machine”? What do these people think the machine is?

Not sure if it "keeps happening", this interaction is at least a decades old. Probably more

idk it feels like every election cycle some right-wing dipshit says RAtM is their favorite band or plays their music at a rally like they arent the people that make up the machine being raged against.

Something that never fails to make me smile is this clip of Rage Against the Machine playing live on BBC radio, after being the Christmas number 1 in the UK music charts following a public campaign protesting X Factor.

For most of the song, they sing the censored version, until we reach the climax of the song and we get a few glorious bars of "FUCK YOU, I WON'T DO WHAT YOU TELL ME"

The best part is the radio presenter's reaction. The music is cut off, and we hear an extremely British woman saying " —Get rid of it! Sorry, we needed to get rid of that because that suddenly, er, turned into something we were not expe— well, we were expecting it and asked them not to do it, and they did it anyway".

This clip gives me life. I hope it emboldens your spirit as it does mine
