I bought the Steam Deck thinking it’d be a “nice side device.” Something to tinker with, maybe play indies on the couch.

What I didn’t expect is that I’d go weeks without booting into Windows on my PC and not even notice.

No big moment. No “Linux is amazing” realization. It was just… normal. Games installed, updates happened, things ran fine. At some point I caught myself thinking, “Oh, I guess I’m just not using Windows anymore.”

That surprised me more than performance numbers or compatibility charts ever could.

I’m not saying Linux is perfect or that everyone should switch. But it feels like the old “Linux gaming is a hassle” thing doesn’t really match reality anymore — at least not the way it used to.

Curious how many of you had a similar experience, or if this is just the honeymoon phase talking.
