I think I’ve finally reached the end of the "new device" rabbit hole.
For the longest time, I was stuck in a cycle of buying hardware to try and find the perfect experience. I’ve gone through way too many Anbernic and Retroid handhelds, I have a Switch Lite, and a PS5. I even recently sold my recently bought Switch 2 because, while it reignited my love for gaming (finally beat Cyberpunk on it!), it still didn’t feel like the "all-in-one" solution I was looking for.
After two weeks with the Steam Deck OLED, I can confidently say the search is over. I’ve found home.
A few things that really sealed the deal for me:
• The Library: Steam is just a different beast. The games are more extensive, the sales make everything so much cheaper than the Switch eShop, and the flexibility is unmatched.
• Emulation: It’s a beast for retro gaming. I’ve got everything from Contra and Super Mario Bros to Mario Maker 2 and Sniper Elite running beautifully.
• Performance & Tweaks: Being able to play Red Dead Redemption 2 with Lossless Scaling via Decky Loader has been a game changer.
I’ve spent the last 14 days customizing my library and tinkering with settings, and I’ve finally scratched that itch. I feel like I have more than enough to keep me busy for the rest of my life.
I'm selling off the rest of the collection—this is the only device I need. Happy to finally be part of the SD family!
