F-Droid on Fire TV Stick 4K (discuss.tchncs.de)
submitted 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) by redd@discuss.tchncs.de to c/fdroid@lemmy.ml

I successfully sideloaded F-Droid Classic to my Fire TV Stick. Original F-Droid was repeatedly crashing so I went with F-Droid Classic.

Anybody did the same? Any recommendations for TV / remote friendly apps?

I downloaded Flicky:

  • Good: More usable on fire TV compared to F-Droid Classic
  • bad: Flicky does not have the "installed" list to keep track of downloaded apps

And checking the settings i discovered security issues:

  • TLS verification was OFF by default
  • several third party repositories are enabled by default which are outside the F-Droid community
