This issue is due to the preload images setting being off. Tap on that link to turn it on. It's enabled by default and with the scrolling performance issue mostly resolved now, it's better to turn that on.

  1. Really cool link to the exact setting, I didn't know that was possible! Thank you for including it :)

  2. Unfortunately, turning this setting on did not fix the problem. What seems to happen is that clicking on the thumbnail in the post (when the post itself is an article, but the image shown is a picture in the article) tries to load the picture, not the article? I am still able to copy the link to the article and paste it into Firefox though. I can provide more photos if needed.

I keep forgetting to mention it but you also need to close and reopen the app after enabling the setting for it to take effect.

Oops, I definitely didn't do that before commenting, sorry!

Restarting the app after changing the setting worked! Thank you for your help :)

I'm providing another example below in case it helps!

Here is a screenshot of a post I see on my feed that seems like it should open an external link:

Here is the link to the article: https://fortune.com/2025/12/16/job-market-so-bad-people-age-40-going-back-to-school/

When I click on the thumbnail, this is what loads:
