Awesome. Reminds me of one of my favorite 80's rock stars.

A gorgeous cover of Elegantly Wasted
Magnificent!
Aah it looks gorgeous. Exactly what I wish my hair would do. Mine is not too different, but it’s about that curly in the front and then the back is barely wavy, makes me sad. But at least the front looks okay. And I have to use a firm gel to get it to that. Ah well. Yours is fab!
I do use gel, Ouidad Climate Control with the red label, and also a leave in/styling cream from Innersense - not their curl cream, it's no good in my hair, I use the Serenity one made for heat styling. This is styled, I don't want you to think it's a wash and go! Rake (a small amount of , it's concentrated) the styling cream through very wet hair, scrunch the heck out of it, hands then towel, then gently put the gel in by sort of "clapping" it through and wiping it over the outside layer. Then I sort of just point the diffuser at it until it sets up - once it's kinda firm I haphazardly diffuse it to try to get it dry, it never quite will dry without some air drying though.
My hair pretty much does what it does, regardless, if I don't style it nobody but me really notices - but I commute by bicycle, absolutely no way am I trusting it without products. It would be a fright wig by the time I got to work.
On the straight in back, do you have layers back there? The default for curly hair is long layers, stylists will be afraid it will jump too much with the shorter layers. Unless I ask, they leave them too long. But the shorter layers may make it blend better with the front, all those ends make it look curlier, and maybe you want it to jump more where it is lazy!
I’ve been going back and forth with the layers in the back, trying different things. Thankfully my stylist listens; I’ve been going to her since I was 16 so she knows I’m not going anywhere if I tell her to cut it in such a way that doesn’t work out. (I’m in my 40s now.)
Anyway, I had a theory that my waves back there are so loose that maybe letting them grow longer would allow the wave to actually wave. When they’re too short, they just slightly curl before the strand ends. It kinda worked, but I do think the weight is an issue. But I’m not gonna get a whole lot of bounce up back there either; the curl pattern just isn’t strong enough. I got it cut last week with shorter layers but I haven’t styled it yet to see how that turned out (holidays and I’m lazy lol).
I’m also recently experimenting with not using a brush during the styling process. I think it was pulling them straighter rather than putting tension on the curls like a ribbon. I’ve tried just combing and then lots and lots of scrunching and that seems to have a better effect. Anyway, the experiments continue!
Brush styling has never worked for me. I have an ancient wide tooth comb that my hair has only beaten once, it has all but one of its tines. I gave up all brushing years ago (outside of a rare blowout to wear it straight, like less often than once a year) and it improved my hair for sure.
An older Pixel phone in the wild. I miss the back fingerprint scanner on my Pixel 2 XL.
And your hair is super cute, great job! I like henna dye, it looks so natural.
Looks great! We have similar hair, though mine is a bit darker.

Looks like a lot of daily work. This is why I cashed out in my 40s and lost my hair. On purpose.
;)
I used to worry about it, does take time but realized I like styling other people's hair, used to be a barber and still do cut hair as a favor for family & a few people. I like messing with my hair too, it's not a drag.
