In December, Sweden announced a 10bn kronor (£800m) cut in development funding to Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Liberia, Tanzania and Bolivia. Germany's humanitarian budget of €1.05bn (£920m) for 2026 will be less than half of last year's, with spending refocused on areas deemed a priority to Europe.

The UK also announced earlier this year that it would be cutting aid to fund defence spending. Norway has increased its civilian support to Ukraine by 2.5bn kroner (£185m), to a quarter of its aid budget, but has been accused of making Africa pay for that rise with a 355m kroner cut (£26m).

France's budget for 2026 will also see a €700m cut to aid spending, with a 60% reduction in food aid, while increasing defence spending by €6.7bn.

The Guardian says that

In December, Sweden announced a 10bn kronor (£800m) cut in development funding to Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Liberia, Tanzania and Bolivia.

But the Guardian links to an article that does not mention such a large reduction. It mentions that they will increase their budget spending to reach 10bn kronor of aid towards Ukraine (and that it's an increase of 1.3bn kronor).

The actual reduction of aid to African countries is 1.8bn kronor

Stödet till länder i Afrika skärs ner med 1,8 miljarder kronor och till Asien med en halv miljard.
The aid to countries in Africa is cut by 1.8bn kronor and to Asia with 0.5bn kronor.

If putin isn't stopped, he will attack other European countries and there won't be aid for a long time; maybe forever.

I don't think Russia will attack EU or NATO, but I also didn't think they would invade Ukraine.
So we probably better prepare for Crazy Ivan being crazy.

This just sucks. Just take the money from the frozen Russian assets and pay development aid. Europe has not reason to want famines in Africa. This will just backfire.

Sweden and Germany doing what needs to be done. Putin (and to a lesser degree Trump) forced such action.
