Assuming he checked the boxes correctly he's a white Hispanic.
Which according to the census form would be impossible. Cause white skin tones cover a truly absurd number of ethnic origins and nationalities.
Typically white is being used as a stand in for western European descent. So french, British, Irish being the most common here in the states.
It's a failing of Jim Crow laws here in the US and I'm sure many other places who also use this type of census. Racism sucks yo
Mexican Americans trying to avoid the Jim Crow law from applying to their children in segregated schools started all this.
I think that the artist has family originating from Spain.
