It's crazy to me that all the other heinous shit this guys done wasn't bad enough.

[–] Montagge@lemmy.zip 40 points 4 days ago

In Mick Foley's defense he's been pretty outspoken about the WWE and Trump.

Why do all these people care about Rob Renier so much? Is there something I'm missing?

[–] RaoulDuke25@lemmy.dbzer0.com 31 points 4 days ago (1 children)

He made iconic movies that people grew up watching. The vile Ted Cruz loves The Princess Bride.

I mean, sure, but there is plenty of art I like and hate the artist. Liking some movies seems like a weird "tipping" point for all these republicans calling Trump out on his rhetoric. I mean it's not like what Trump said about Reiner is out of character.

I get what you mean. The cozying up to a known rapist by an accused rapist wasn’t enough for him to part ways but this is? It’s hard for me to not be cynical but Mick has been called out this stuff before. The best time to part ways with bad people is when you find out they’re bad. The second best time is meow.

[–] NotASharkInAManSuit@lemmy.world 8 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Excuse me, are you saying meow?

[–] tacosanonymous@mander.xyz 2 points 3 days ago

Do I look like a cat to ya, boy?!

[–] tym@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

meow you've done it. we're getting a super-troopers pun thread

[–] RaoulDuke25@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 4 days ago

Do you see me drinking milk from a saucer?!

He's not the first rich white person trump has attacked like this.

keep in mind Mick Foley, just like most wrestlers, is a carny. And I say this as a pro-wrestling fan myself.

Every wrestler, especially older ones, all seem to have their limit or line they'll stand on. everything prior to that is fine, anything over that line? they'll make a stand.

I mean Foley himself still calls Vince "Mr. McMahon" and respects him even after all the bullshit he's done. hell the company still respects McMahon to the point they even had a clip of him on TV at the end of John Cena's retirement match and out of ALL the clips they played THAT clip was the one that made Cena tear up. Make no mistake, just like Foley, Cena might be wholesome and be great with make a wish kids but he STILL supports a man that shat on a womans head and sexually assaulted her plus more. Foley is the same. They all are.

CM Punk says he's all pro-trans and a feminist but is more than happy to wrestle in Saudi Arabia and take their money even AFTER he said wrestlers that do (this was when he had quit WWE) are "sucking Saudi blood covered dicks" to which he now does. They're all hypocrites at the end of the day, they're carnys. I mean at one point Punk claimed that WWE nearly killed him by having him wrestle injured, they fired him on his wedding day, and here he is wrestling for the company again, his damn wife too! They have no morals, none of them.

So Foley taking this stand RIGHT NOW? he's a fan of the Princess Bride, he loved Reiners movies, that's it. that's all this is. IF Trump hadn't said anything? Foley would have gladly signed that legends contract renewal in June.

Not me, man.

It's wild how motivated people are in this country by mean words and not by poverty wages, unaffordable health care, or crumbling infrastructure.

But Linda McMahon dismantling the dept of education was fine

[–] VerilyFemme@lemmy.blahaj.zone 16 points 4 days ago

Mankind could handle being thrown off of the top of Hell in a Cell, but not this bullshit. Just in case you thought what's happening here is kinda normal.

[–] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 12 points 4 days ago

considering vince donated heavily to trumps campaign multiple times, and LINDA mchamon being on his cabinet TWICE already.

Honestly I'm trying to figure out content the "Business" Lemmy community could use.

People and business?

Business and the economy?

Company changes?

[–] DrFistington@lemmy.world 10 points 4 days ago

I think this is good. It impacts WWE as a franchise, and it's also relevant to people who would be interested

[–] D_C@sh.itjust.works 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I've heard that the orange buffoon is going to join WWE and that he's going to enter the ring to bombastic music, whilst wearing a sumo costume that's holding a bulging baby nappy in place! And then he'll run his fingers under the noses of everyone in close proximity whilst strutting around shouting "Can You Smell The kids I've Been Raping?"

[–] PDFuego@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

He's already been in WWE. His theme song was called Money Money Money and the lyrics are just "Money" being repeated infinite times. IIRC he was presented as the good guy in a feud against Vince McMahon, and he's been in the WWE Hall of Fame since 2013. He was about as incapable of doing anything competently as you'd expect.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago

Glad to hear he is a reasonable human. Too many have put up with this nonsense allowing it to continue. All for what? So people who have too much can have more. That is just sad.

woah i thought this guy died like 15 years ago
