merz always looks the same in pictures and it fascinates me. it is the face of someone who has little idea whats going on, but who has gotten quite far with acting absolutely confident in whatever they say.

its the same vibes ive seen from many managers who will speak abt the most complex unknowns with the utmost confidence. not because they know what theyre doing, but because admitting they cant be sure seems like an admission of weakness.

That's very much the typical modern mainstream politician in Western Democracies.

I would say that somebody with at least a modicum of capability outside Presentation and Talkie-talkie, such as Merkel, has been more the exception than the rule in the last 2 decades at least.

Whilst the era of such politicians might seem to be coming to an end, IMHO what we're seing is just a style change of the Presentation + Talkie-talkie specialists from slick technocrat to loudmouth raging populist - seemingly different posture and discourse but their actual expertise is still in exactly the same domain and their ineptitude outside that is just as bad, maybe even a bit worse.

He looks like the early version of Charlie Brown grown up to me.

You described his character incredibly succinctly.

Useless

Can he start doing anything significant?

Merz... Slams?

His significant "contribution" is the continued free fall of the governing coalition's poll results. Merz is singlehandedly handing the next election to the neonazis on a silver platter.

CDU/CSU are down over 3%, SPD is down over 2% and AfD has an absolute majority in polls with nearly a 5% increase since the last election for a total of 25.5% of the surveyed.

We are doomed and at this point I'm not even sure Merz isn't doing it on purpose. Otherwise it'd be actually impressive how fast he speedran becoming the most disliked chancelor.

Pax Americana wasn't exactly peaceful outside of Europe and North America.

American dominance wasn't good for anybody and European dominance or sphere won't be any better in its current form either.
