The Gold Card scheme promises US residency in "record time" and will require a $1m fee which is "evidence that the individual will substantially benefit the United States", the programme's website said.

Businesses sponsoring employees are required to pay $2m, along with additional fees. A "platinum" version of the card that offers special tax breaks will also be available soon for $5m, the website said.

Extra fees to the government may be charged depending on each applicant's circumstances, the site said. Individuals are also required to pay a non-refundable $15,000 processing fee before their application is reviewed.

That's because it is bribery, plus he has control over them in return. He can kick them out just as easily as he let them in.

It absolutely is. Anyone who wanted to come to the US and had the money could by applying for an EB-5 visa, which costs the same as or less than a "gold card". You do have to actually invest and create some jobs, but it's not that difficult of a task.

I expect the biggest "advantage" of the gold card is going to be that there are few rules. So people who have been rejected previously are now going to come in. Who has millions of dollars and would be rejected? Only the best people I'm sure.

I was unaware of the EB-5 visa. Thank you for mentioning it. Makes me hate this even more.

I can make you hate it even more.

"On Dec. 20, 2019, President Trump signed a law extending the Regional Center Program through Sep. 30, 2020."

Per https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EB-5_visa via USCIS.gov archive.

The Regional Center Program is basically a way to invest into something that would take more than one investor. If a roadworks project takes several million dollars, you can invest as part of that and it will qualify.

So Trump is aware EB-5 visas exist. They also, generally speaking, are effective at doing what they set out to do. But EB-5 isn't branded as Trump, so fuck it.

Wow, the first ten applicants all come from the same Russian military base, what are the odds!

Does the million dollars erase the need for giving over five years of social media posts ?

[–] Obi@sopuli.xyz 5 points 2 days ago

Wasn't that old news? Guess it's now coming into effect? What I did glean from this is that companies sponsoring employees have to pay $2M??? Surely that means the end of any high skilled immigration except for maybe a CEO here and there?

He looks so excited

He knows he's gonna scam so much money on this one

Trump didn't invent the concept of a golden visa but he sure made it tacky

Going to be hilarious when ICE kidnaps and disappears a Trunp Gold Card holder regardless

Lol at spending a million to get here, but an additional 15k is required processing fee. Does TicketMaster run this thing?

That's interesting, I might consider moving to US if I got 1-5 million dollars.

Probably not worth it though

I wouldn't trust them to not yoink it at a moment's notice. Then they can hold it over your head.
