Why would Joe Biden do this?

He didn't do it on purpose, he's just too sleepy! And so cunning, the sitting, very stable genius that is absolutely not demented, president is unable to change any of it!

We're not even a year into this yet

There's only so much cost you can cut before your productivity tanks and you start losing money relative to the cost you are saving. I've worked for a lot of smaller businesses that cut costs everywhere that they can and it eventually reaches a point of freefall. One of the places I worked treated their employees like garbage and would constantly be understaffed because nobody wanted to work there and would frequently refuse to hire new people when they needed it. Eventually they fired me and over the course of 2 years I constantly got text messages asking me to come back before they eventually closed for good.

It will obviously take longer for huge companies but with how trigger happy they have been with layoffs this year because of AI I can't imagine this is sustainable. Sure, the line is going up and that's what they wanna see, but if we stay on this course that won't mean shit in 5 years when nobody has the money to buy anything. Not only that, AI has been causing so many new problems overall and isn't the golden ticket they say it is (so far, at least)

I'm mostly basing this on vibes but there's no way in hell, even with AI, that our economy could survive if we have pandemic levels of unemployment. It was only 5 years ago but it seems people have forgotten how bad it was back in 2020 economically. We don't even have stimulus checks this time around.
