And there it stands. Still a lot of work to do, but there will be grilling this weekend!

That looks great! My wife is doing similar but she’s put it on hold for the winter. I gently told her she should probably seal the wood before calling it quits but she didn’t listen. Oh well, I’m not dying on that hill!

I'm treating it with linseedoil which can be used till nearly freezing point (some say even below, it just takes longer for the wood to absorb it, but I have my doubts about that claim)

So, uh. I'm about to keg some nut brown ale. I'll bring some potato salad too

Very nice, what did you use for the counter?

[–] redlemace@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

22mm thick boards normaly used on the outside of houses (G4-2 quality). The top will be coated with epoxy whis makes it harder and water resistant. Unusual I know. Did it on my workbench in the garage and works quite well

What is that thing the grill is resting on?

I casted a concrete plate with a couple of "pillars" to allow ventilation (cooling) under the grill It's better visible here

I though this was going to be one of those weird ass saunas that people abroad who don't quite know what they're doing build.

The sauna is in the basement ;) so no, not that.
