If the package says “turn over halfway through” you are better off turning 2/3 of the way through cooking time if you are using a standard baking setting on an oven.

Many cooking instructions imply the oven was preheated for sake of consistency do I usually just add an extra 30% ish (Or just remember what worked best before) and go from there.

When I make stuff like tatter tots - I don't even turn them at all. When the time is up - I open the door, eyeball them, and sometimes I cook them for an extra minute or two.

Every time someone says "tatter tots", it makes me think they're talking about latkes.
