Last night one player said of another, "wow, that cowboy accent drifted to southern real fast."

I was like, "we got a house rule: we don't talk about accent drift at this table, buddy"

I'm bilingual, and there are certain accents I can only do in Dutch, and certain accents I do only in English.

When I switched games with Dutch friends from an English to a Dutch GM, my friends were like "she does the BEST Russian accent".

Yeah sorry, I can literally only do it in English, just like my incredibly racist Arab accent only works in Dutch (and preferably not at all).

WAT NOU ACCENT!

This is hilarious. Now I am uber curious what other accent/language combos there are. Also, does your Nederlands influence your Engels? I mean, it must a little, right? So what would a French influenced English language Russian accent sound like??

does your Nederlands influence your Engels?

I'd like to think it doesn't, but yeah, I can ALWAYS hear when a dutch person speaks english, so it probably does. Also, "Dunglish" is one of funniest/worst accents.

All my accents end up Irish/Canadian/South African hybrid.

What?!? That's the BEST part of dnd!!

We give the gm shit over this regularly, and it's so freaking funny.

That's fine, but I want my shy players doing more accents, so no one teases anyone about all our awful accents.

Lean into the silliness and you'll get over it faster. People should be more willing to be silly in general, honestly.

They showed up and are paying attention? That's a great player right there!

So, anyway, first time players start with no clothes.

Oh! That explains why the dungeons part! I wasn't certain, so I packed my gimp mask just in case. Gimme a sec. Gonna go get changed! OMG you guys I'm so excited and nervous!

What about our characters tho

[–] mossy_@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Beeeg, this is a political intrigue game set in a fantasy off-shoot of cold war Russia. Of course the characters are naked.

Like no clothes naked or naked naked

[–] toynbee@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Uh ... Are they allowed to wear underwear?

Roll for undies.

...

No

Unexpectedly wholesome. I love it!

Ah that kinda role-playing. Friends should be supportive yep.

[–] ssfckdt@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 6 days ago

I remember my DM in an early game pushing and pushing me to do something stupid because I wasn't apparently good at roleplaying because .... i didn't do what my character wouldn't fucking do. I cringed at him the whole time he walked me through it and then was so proud for getting me out of my routine.

I know how to act motherfucker it's called dedication to a character, not do random shit to prove you're "creative"

I will be laughing at rather than with you, but i do that for everybody.
