YSK: In spite of its name, the Chevrolet Corvette is not in fact, a small bird.
This would work if there was a type of bird called a corvette. If you had gone with “a small boat” instead, it would have worked. But, as is, this is shitty shittyyoushouldknow.

There are corvids which could be combined with the diminutive -ette to form Corvette.
