I took out my phone and she kept touching it with her lips. I turned on some music and she stopped and ate her dinner. She's so damn smart and loves music.
We hung out and jammed in her stall while she ate. After she was done, I used the weight tape on her and she's about 820lbs now!

You're welcome! And the weight tape is a measuring tape that you wrap around her abdomen from the withers over her heart. Whatever number lines up with the little starting arrow on the tape indicates an estimate of her weight. It isn't super exact, but is the most readily available method for weight tracking.

So her horse cookies are just treats from a bag I got at tractor supply. I think they have oats, mollasas, apple, and some other stuff. They taste like nothing to me (yes I tried one out of curiosity lol)
Sandy has gone from 775 to 820 in 2 months! That doesn't seem like much, esp for a horse, but it's a big deal for her. She was stuck at 775 for ages. I think starting her on an additional caloric supplement was a great call.
She's honestly doing so much better than I expected her to be. I'm so happy with how thick her winter coat is and the weight gain. I'm hoping that I can maintain this weight for the winter. I wanted her to be like 850 going into winter, but I knew that wasn't gonna happen lol.
That’s so great to hear that she’s doing so well. Amazing what love, kindness in addition to the right diet can do. I’m so grateful she has you (and vice versa!). She looks beautiful and it seems her spirits are better too at her new home. Just love that she’s into music. And I think I’d have tried the cookies too! Thanks for the info and updates.
