...Does anyone even want this? Even if we ignore the controversies (like Jackie Chan serving on the CPPCC, Chris Tucker flying to Epstein's island, and Brett Ratner harrassing a dozen women we know about), who actually looks at Rush Hour 3 and waits 18 years for a sequel?

[–] moondoggie@lemmy.world 16 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Orange dementia patients want it and if he read what you wrote, he’d want it even more.

[–] Susaga@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

He wants a movie with a black man and an Asian man who hates America teaming up to fight corrupt criminals? When the last one got 17% on rotten tomatoes?

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Seems like it.

Michelle Yeoh has called him out for being a misogynist who thinks women should stay in the kitchen.

[–] MiddleAgesModem@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

People who are allergic to original ideas.

[–] MeekerThanBeaker@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

I've seen a lot of films. A lot. I haven't seen any of the Rush Hour movies. So, no, I do not want a Rush Hour 4. I liked Chris Tucker in The Fifth Element, but that's about it.

Jackie Chan has denounced America and sided with the Chinese dictatorship, can't trust or support him for anything.

In tje good timeline he probably suffered worse injuries when he fell out of that tree.

[–] Fredselfish@lemmy.world 17 points 1 week ago (2 children)

And the director is a fucking rapist who was rightfully canceled. Trump is the one pushing for this.

[–] _cryptagion@anarchist.nexus 11 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I mean, I live here and denounce it. The United States fucking sucks.

[–] finitebanjo@piefed.world -2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Yeah, but it was better before the first time Trump entered office and its still better than China.

[–] _cryptagion@anarchist.nexus 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'm sure it was better for white liberals. but everyone who isn't a fascist probably didn't have as glowing a review of it as you do.

[–] finitebanjo@piefed.world 2 points 1 week ago

I guarantee you the people facing the brunt of the consequences of the Trump admin aren't the "white liberals". It would be trans people, manufacturing job workers, immigrants, and people of color.

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 1 week ago

Ah, he chose one dictatorship over another? How rude. 🫠

[–] lemmy_get_my_coat@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

What a weird thing to draw a line in the sand about. Denouncing America doesn't sound like a crazy thing; it's run by a cultist rapist.

[–] finitebanjo@piefed.world -2 points 1 week ago (1 children)
  1. It wasnt when he started denouncing it.

  2. its where he lived a lot of his life and made most of his money.

  3. China is just worse in every single way on every topic

Part of me thinks they're holding his family and citizenship hostage, but thats not likely to change anytime soon.

[–] _cryptagion@anarchist.nexus -3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

China is objectively better in almost every regard and by almost any metric. All other first world nations are better than the US in every metric. The United States only leads the rest of the world in number of incarcerated people.

It doesn’t even lead in freedom and democracy, which is supposed to be its thing.

[–] finitebanjo@piefed.world -1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

China is better at being a dictatorship, better at harming democracies around the world, better at funding terrorism and coups, murdering dissidents, cracking down on protests, destroying culture and history, military aggression and border expansion, running illegal organ trades, encroaching on habitats of animals capable of spreading pandemic level plagues, selling aforementioned animals in wet markets, etc.

the United States has literally run a government funded school to teach right-wing authoritarians from Latin America how to do most of the things you just mentioned since 1946.

you wanna try again?

[–] finitebanjo@piefed.world -1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I retract nothing, no matter how bad you can make the USA look by scrounging through centuries of documents, China is far worse now.

[–] _cryptagion@anarchist.nexus 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Centuries? The School of the Americas is open today, under the Trump admin, just as it was under the Biden admin. I don't have to dig into history at all to discuss the varied atrocities the US is currently responsible for. This isn't just history, it's current affairs.

The United States never has been the beacon of democracy and human rights it claims to be. And it sure as fuck was never the greatest country in the world. It's an authoritarian cesspit run by corporations and fueled by the destruction of the environment and repression of smaller nations. There are dozens of countries that are better in any metric than the US, and China is the least of them. Even the UK does better than the US on every metric, including personal freedoms and right to privacy, and they've been run by a conservative government for decades.

[–] finitebanjo@piefed.world -1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

And China is worse. Does that fact create some kind of problem for you? What aren't you understanding?

[–] _cryptagion@anarchist.nexus 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Does that fact create some kind of problem for you?

you mean besides it being factually wrong?

[–] finitebanjo@piefed.world 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Bro hit me with the "no u" followed thereafter by the "nah uh".

[–] _cryptagion@anarchist.nexus 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

says the person who literally just did that to me. I mean, I didn't expect someone who hangs out with PugJesus to have a particularly well thought out argument on, well, anything, but I figured it would at least be a little more nuanced than "nah nah nah nah I can't hear you".

[–] finitebanjo@piefed.world -1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Me and Pug regularly debate each other over disagreements, but one thing we both agree on is you fucking tankies love death, malice, and harming innocents.

[–] _cryptagion@anarchist.nexus 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

anyone left of Reagan is a tankie to you, so I won't take offense at that. and nobody but the redpilled liberals over at MoG would believe you anyway. kinda ironic you talk about harming innocents though. the only time your kind cares about harming people is when you need votes to install some "lesser evil" as the figurehead president for the corporate oligarchy.

now why don't you run back to the circlejerk like a good little boy.

[–] finitebanjo@piefed.world -1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Tankies are actually to the right of Reagan.

[–] Witchfire@lemmy.world 8 points 1 week ago

Jackie Chan has denounced America

Hell yeah!

And sided with the Chinese dictatorship,

Oh...

dunno man... unlike the american dicatorship they got top notch evs and shit. top. notch.

[–] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago

For context, Jackie Chan is 71.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago

The studio will find a way to quietly torpedo this monstrosity. Trump's dementia can't lock onto an idea for more than a week, he'll be saying this was a dumb idea next month.

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Wait, Chris Tucker beat his crack habit?

[–] MantisToboggon@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I thought he was super clean and religious?

[–] otter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Not sure if that's super dry sarcasm or earnest confusion.

[–] MantisToboggon@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I remember reading that he turned down next friday because he didn't want to normalize weed use.
