There’s actually some really interesting history. The first Jaffa orange exporters were descendants of the German Templars. In the beginnings of industrialization, Zionist and Palestinian growers developed different cultivation methods, with both being profitable. The methods favored by the Yishuv tended to be higher yielding but also higher input. Under the mandate, British authorities allowed in modern equipment for cultivation and processing for the Yishuv, but not for Arab land owners.
Their claims of being the "true indigenous" people of Palestine is such bullshit because if they were, they'd have connections to Palestinian olive orchards. Palestine was known for its olives going back to the Roman Empire. IIRC it's mentioned a few times in the Old Testament as well.
So when these fucking Europeans show up and bulldoze these orchards, it's proof they don't belong there. It'd be like claiming you're the true indigenous people of Hawaii, then ripping out all of the tropical fruit trees and replacing them with wheat and dairy farms.

europeans generally seem more militant about farmer boycott, with pressure on different chain stores and stuff
I think this is the core of any successful boycott, not just "don't buy this", but also organized pressure on the supply chains that distribute the boycotted products.

Is there a way to tell if a product is from Israel or not? I think there's an app but I haven't heard many people mention it, so I'm not sure how actually reliable it is.

Yeah really puts some "voting with your wallet"-power in consumer hands and does so very conveniently. Wish I knew of more stuff like this. Imagine crowdsourced boycotts on whatever nefarious company's products or run-amok regimes exports.

if the shop doesn't print it on veggies price tag, not much you can do. trying farmer's market as a venue? the main suspicious produce which you should check are potatoes, tomatoes, avocados, dates and oranges, the rest are kinda minimal i believe (apparently garlic according to this post) 
Peanuts, peppers, all citrus fruits, mangoes and pomegranates as well. In the EU it’s mandatory for the store to inform about the country of origin either on the pricetag or with a sign but many stores stopped doing this with products from the zionist entity. You can always ask an employee though and they have to get their manager who should be able to find out.
