Got my first payslip after dropping to part time. Yes, it looks a little sadder, but given how bone tired I am right now I absolutely cannot wait to lie in bed and stare at the ceiling in complete silence tomorrow morning. Just need to watch the spending a little closer.

[–] Catfish@aussie.zone 7 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Dropping to part time was one of the best mental things I ever did. Yes it's a money ouch, but not as bad as I thought it might be.

The office dog is a cavoodle with a white patch on her chest. Her bone shaped tag makes it look like a bowtie over a dress shirt so she looks very fancy as she pathetically begs everyone for food

Being asked if I have plans on x day without telling me what they’re planning. I don’t fall for that. I need all the details upfront!

IKR?

So great you’re free! You can help me express the dog’s anal glands!

Gonna keep it really vague. I am now a pseudo nurse to my beautiful husband who has a temporary piss bag strapped to his leg. It's definitely a new for us.

[–] Thornburywitch@aussie.zone 6 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Oh my! Best wishes to husband, and some strength and patience vibes for you.

This isn't related to the shaver incident, is it?

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 5 points 4 months ago

Hahaha. Nah but we did laugh at the amount of people who got to see my handiwork.

[–] Eagle@aussie.zone 6 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I did wonder about your hospital comment last night... I hope you're both travelling well. Community nurse here, feel free to hit me up with any questions. Nothing is too gross or stupid.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 6 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Omg. Thank you. How the fuck do I wash the overnight bag or do I need to? It wasn't explained to me how but in the pamphlet it says to.

[–] Eagle@aussie.zone 8 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Empty it (obvs) and and flush it through with warm water from the white tip end out the open tap. You can use some gentle hand soap, nothing as harsh as dishwasher liquid. We usually tell people to do that in the shower. Rinse all the soap out. You can use 1:8 vinegar/water to flush out if you think its smelly. Put the cap back on the white tip, leave the end tap open and hang it somewhere to drip dry. Keep it up off the floor.

Can't wait for probation to be over so I can move closer.

In a less negative vibe, I made some marketing material fairly quickly today off the cuff and it seems to be a hit!

Edit: also tomorrow is Friday which is awesome.

The container deposit machine is not as hungry as I hoped it would be. I got rid of, like, ten and then it told me it was full.

Dangit

super shallow post incoming

the flies and other flying bugs are bad here especially down at the beach, I've found using cologne scented shampoo has helped somewhat

would it be too much scent/icky to also use 4711 soap and maybe some extra eucalyptus in my laundry liquid? I don't want to go the deet route and since the bugs here are clean biters I don't have a need to

[–] SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 5 points 4 months ago

It's worth a shot.

Managed to stay down the beach an extra 2 days. Back in Melbs now.

A father w/ his 3 identical triplet daughters sitting opposite was interesting. Haven't seen that before. All dressed the same which would be confusing.

[–] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 5 points 4 months ago

many hugs to Melbs and to the CEO fam

I'm bored because I've done all the work I can without someone else giving direction.

Squeezy yoghurt pouches have been acquired in my household and suddenly I'm eating way more yoghurt than I do than just from the tub. The tubs are better for the environment though

[–] Eagle@aussie.zone 4 points 4 months ago (2 children)

You can buy refillable squeezy pouches. Some of them are even dishwasher safe.

I went to Bunnings for some more supplies for my lawnmower restoration (as it was a bit rustier than I realised) and had to divert on the way home due to a road closure. Which meant a nice little drive through the countryside. I even saw an alpaca, freshly shaved so looking very long in the neck.

Fellow parents.... Have any of you gone down the BYOD laptop purchase path through LWT/JB Edu? Apart from it obviously being a brand new device, only advantage I can see is the ease of repairs on site. And seemingly coverage for accidental damage, but I can't find what is covered when referring to "accidental damage".... I can find the same specs from somewhere like reboot-it for a third of the price, but obviously no servicing....

[–] Eagle@aussie.zone 4 points 4 months ago (1 children)

We've decided to just go with what the school provides. It may be cheaper elsewhere but I do not have the time to stuff around looking!

I've been wondering about this for when the kids are old enough. I could get old laptops from work for like $150 each but then people may not be able to service them because they're non standard
