It's way more beautiful when you go there during cool season. In hot season, you want to get away as fast as you can.
Yep even in cool you really get a sense of how dangerous an area it is. A few bad choices during a summer visit could really hurt you
That write up on finding the German family that vanished in Death Valley really did a good showcase of how easily that can happen.
