Between CFCs and Leaded gasoline, Midgley really had an absurdly long lasting impact. Dude died in 44, but we are just now finally fixing the damage he did. Judging by the current state of the US, leaded gasoline's legacy still has a bit of time.

rule #1: be kind
We have the capacity and knowledge and heart to solve big problems. Protect this jewel.
Billionaires, driven mad by arrogance, stand in our way as they prove themselves Ozymandias on steroids.
It doesn't need protecting. Just stop damaging it.
I understand your frustration with oil execs harming our home, in order to buy their expensively decorated food.
But the life envelope needs just as much care as a new born. Even after oil is replaced.
When we grow up and stop harming for advantage, we'll still treat our "life"boat as a friend.
From what I recall, the alternatives to CFCs were cost effective (and possibly cheaper than CFCs?), which is why this ever worked at all. But maybe that was BS, I dunno.
Regardless, the fact is, we cannot fix a problem unless someone somewhere is getting rich from it.
I remember reading somewhere that while the hole is closing, due to the massive increase of rocket launches it’s actually thinning so we may not be as protected from the sun as we think we are.
