MODERATORS

Donald Trump has snubbed thousands of air traffic controllers and technicians who kept the skies safe during the longest government shutdown in history, union officials told Axios.

Only 776, or seven percent, of the roughly 11,000 air traffic controllers and technicians who worked through the 43-day government shutdown will get a $10,000 bonus.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy described the “perfect attendance” bonus on X as a Santa moment, apparently ignoring that most workers were gift-less.

Just quit, let the system fail.

That's exactly what this admin wants. So they can swoop in with their private companies and enshittify everything while they rake in more cash. All in the name of "small government".

Either way, the rich will be fine, and the rest of us will be left with nothing.

Private jets will get safety and security in the sky while you'll have to pay more for a secure flight on a full price flight company or you can risk yourself and your family on a budget flight company that may or may not be paying private air traffic control companies for safe Air traffic zones.

More likely the air traffic control gives priority takeoff and landing to the highest bidder. Crashes are not in the airplane owners' interest, there are better ways to make money.

We need more rich assholes who insist they need to fly everywhere crashing. I'm actially in favor of this.

It won't happen, there is a two tiered justice system now. There will be a two tiered air traffic control system, the rich will get preferential passage in the skies and front of the line on takeoff and landings.

You seem to think they will train people properly, not fill in gaps or try to discipline labor with llm's or have literally any competence at management. Atc's will be more overworked and abused than they are right now, but also have emotional coddling added to their duties, do fewer flights, coordinate less, and generally be handicapped in every possible way by the 'efficiency' of capitalism.

Like neom being built on a foundation of bones. I'm sure people will die building it, but I'm skeptical theyll get as far as mixing any concrete.

Exactly as I said when it was announced ( why would he pay bonus if they don't even pay wages earned )

I'd like to see how many of these air traffic controllers voted republican and supported Trump.

As counter intuitive as it sounds ... I'd also like to see how of them still want to support the Republicans and Trump.

I'm as pro union as any socially minded supporter but you'd be surprised at the number of union people who support and fight for their union but routinely personally vote for political parties their unions fight against.

In all these Trump headlines, I start to see more and more how the political parties and personalities are only part of the problem .... the other part of the problem is the American people who look at all this as normal.
