Why is a Toyota guy standing in front of a Ford. When I first saw the one image, I thought it was a bad angle in a parking lot, but that thing is front and center in every shot.

It was a NASCAR event, not a Toyota event.
Looks like we're boycotting cars
Well your in the right place lol
Reminder that one Japanese guy even if he is horrible doesn't represent the entirety of Japan for the idiots who want to use this as an excuse to spread misinformation about Japan in the comments here.
What a spineless cunt. He must be perceived as a massive disappointment in Japan.
Japan is extremely conservative, so it’s not likely. They have good PR because they’re known internationally for anime and zany fashion… But the vast majority of Japan is extremely hardline conservative, and it has been getting worse recently too.
Jingoism has been on the rise in Japan, to the point that they have started discussing whether they should be allowed to have their own army again. That’s notable because in the wake of World War 2, Japan’s constitution was rewritten to explicitly forbid them from having an army. They’re only allowed to maintain a small Self-Defense Force, which isn’t allowed to operate outside of Japan.
There's nothing conservative about the USA. The USA is full on fascist, including a clown as a dictator that is controlled by even richer assholes. Japan is conservative in the actual sense of the word. They want to preserve their way of life. This can quickly lead to fascist movements but overall this is not really the case. Maintaining a professional appearance is very important to them and trump is pretty much the polar opposite.
Japan is just about as right wing as the US so, unfortunately, probably not. Their corporate culture is worse than it is in the US.
Those under him probably see him as a massive disappointment but can't speak out about it and have to constantly kiss his ass in order to keep their livelihood.
I keep going back and forth on this point. On the one hand, we have a CEO that is okay with these horrible optics. On the other, a CEO that is willing to eat a shit sandwich to keep his company (and everyone working for it) relevant in the absolutely massive US car market.
He looks like he was told this is what Americans wear and has no understanding of the true significance of it.
There is some potential validity to your comment because I've heard that Japanese people don't get much information about the western world due to the language barrier
If it just turns out to be a misunderstanding due to language barrier then it's a misunderstanding
But if he knows full well what it means and what he is doing then he is a awful person
Except he's the only person in that lineup picture wearing that garbage.
Date of the photo? Assume it would be before the election, shirt is dated 2024. Still embarrassing as hell for anyone with any pride, sense of worth or value of the broader world to stand with those POSs
This was last weekend.
Looks like we're boycotting cars
Always have been :)
Toyota has been a made a ton of donations to the right wing for anti-ev policies for years, so this is a victory lap outfit for him
Fancy joining the MAGA movement just as it enters the Epstein phase?
Is this the part where MAGA hangs itself with bedsheets during a gap in camera footage while the guards are napping?
Ok CEO dipshit, why don’t you cosplay getting beaten by ICE while visiting your new US factory and flown to the fuck knows where and being like “yeah I deserved this treatment”
Ah shit.
I get it. You need to do the dance and play a part with trump. If all cyclists wore maga hats and bought Chinese trump merch we may get some more bike lanes.
Unlikely, there's much less money in bikes than in cars and fuel so not as much to bribe with. Even contractors building the infrastructure get more constantly repairing roads with heavy vehicles than a one-time bike lane install.
Brown nosing only gets you so far, the only way to get anything done under a corrupt government is to enrich those in charge.
GOD DAMN IT. I WAS ABOUT TO BUY A COROLLA. Can anyone recommend another reliable car that says "I don't give a shit about cars, my cat just hates ubers"?
Buy a Corolla... Get a used one and have any service or maintenance you can't do yourself done at a locally owned shop. It's not ideal but it's as good as it's going to get
Solid advice. Toyotas fall in value like any other car, then hit a few thousand and stay there forever. There's a good reason for that.
Between salvage, refurbished parts, and new old inventory, you can easily keep a 10 year old Toyota on the road for decades.
Subaru if you're okay with combustion. Hyundai maybe if you want to go electric?
Hyundai is abusing labor in its US factories. Not exactly a morally superior choice. Lateral move at best.
Oof. Good to know. Ethically, there seems to be no real good options.
Maybe a used vehicle with low ecological impact is the best moral choice at this point?
Used EVs that are not that old seem to be pretty cheap, cheaper than ICE cars.
Subaru or Honda.
Buy the corolla anyway.
Yea considering the recent jump further into conservatism in Japan, nevermind the general white-washing of Trump in their media, makes sense.
Pathetic
Good thing Subaru exists
Toyota is the biggest shareholder of Subaru Corporation.
it's why we wont see a decent subaru ev for the foreseeable future :(
Dammit. I am boycottinf the one company that makes reliable cars that aren't huge trucks the price of 5 cars now.
Just don't buy a new vehicle.
Still not getting a Camry
Boomer re-run version of an embarrassing school photo
People like that have been playing corporate politics for decades. There is no soul left.
The imported Toyotas from Japan are much nicer anyway
Lol kowtowing
Second hand embarrassment...
Those Ford-branded Toyota's are pieces of shit, anyway.
Toyota CEO is posing with a Ford? Is there another anticompetitive alliance brewing?
damn i was looking to buy one of their cheaper motorcycles :/ guess i'll wait another year and see how much electrics have improved
Toyota Motorcycle?
Because that worked out for Musk.
