Headphone jack, no notch, no camera hole, SD Card slot... I am intrigued.
The price is an issue, for sure. Maybe after some time has gone by.

The Xperia 10 mk7 has all of that for a fraction of the price.
Just like the Xperia 1 you can't officially get them in North America.
It's an issue upfront, but if the phone is pretty close to perfect then I'd use it long enough to justify the price. I used my Note 9 for a long time because it retained all those features whilst other models were losing them.
Aren't all Sony phones always priced above most android phones?
They have been for years. I had a 2016 Sony that definitely wasn't a good value on paper. I accepted that because it was small.
1080p for that price range is baffling
You really want pixels indecipherable to the human eye on a format that your eyes can even take advantage of? Baffling.
I have this phone and it's the best phone I've ever used. The previous generation had 4K resolution and it turned out no one could tell the difference and the panels are way higher power usage. The battery that used to power the 4k now lasts for literally 3 days of constant powered on, full use. It's the longest lasting battery in a phone in the world. No phone lasts longer without a charge.
So many other features have exceeded my expectations. I no longer carry a 3rd party DAC to use for the AUX cord headphones. It sounds incredible and STILL USES AUX. In this era of forced Bluetooth headphones it's a god damn unicorn.
You're mad about specs that are absolutely meaningless in reality.

You forgot Oneplus 15 with its 7300mah battery. It has nearly twice the endurance of this sony smartphone.

Learned something new.
I bought a OnePlus 13 last year at launch and I've been keenly disappointed with it every single day I've owned it. If I wanted an iphone, I would've purchased one.
the 1 is the premium model though. the 10 is where it's at.
I think the Xperia seems always to have been a line for a little extra glamour. I've seen a few different models from over the years and they're all a bit indulgent in their own ways.
