More like "I'm ultra right, but I can't admit that in public because so I desperately need to win over Germany's working class for my war plans, I even used the word socialism in our party name and we intentionally make our posters similar to those of the communists".

If you're paying enough attention, you can really smell who is only posing as a centrist vs. who actually is. This is no longer 1939. We know where the limit is. If you claim to be a centrist or, as it says in the screenshot neither left, nor right but you have nazi takes or have nazi worldviews, you're most likely only a centrist poser (and a nazi wannabe).
There just is a certain bias. In Germany there are currently three parties that call themselves centrist. One is centrist, one is racist (and will never work with fascists, unless they want to of course) and one is fascist. Especially the fascist one is very insistent that they are centrist
Yeah, well, we all know that there is nothing that is precisely in the center in politics. Anyone who has some political culture knows that you may be either on the right or on the left, with various degrees of distance to the center.
If we're talking about parties, I cannot contradict you. I am not aware about the details of the ideology of any of the political parties comprising the current ruling coalition. All I can say is that here in Romania we have to deal with nazis, and the alternative to them are the thieves that left the corruption unchecked at an abysmal level all these 35 years, plus a reformist party that's full of neoliberals (basically those that enabled nazis to be so popular anywhere in the world in the last decades). Plus a center-left-to-left party that didn't make it to the parliament in the previous elections but is popular among the Gen Z-ers and is gaining steam.
If we're talking about people, I think it's pretty easy to both:
- Admit that communism is unachievable and has been a criminal system which, in the name of turning societies more egalitarian, managed to fuck up everyone outside the ruling elite.
- Recognize that the bigger enemy nowadays is fascism, which made its way all the way to the White House and is threatening the democracy as we know it.
Edit: btw, if I am to come back to the German politics, looking at the last elections' map shows me something... quite interesting: upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia…

Yeah the east got fucked over by the CDU (black and racist) when they were reunited so they voted for AfD (blue and fascist). The actual AfD percentages aren’t that different, they just aren’t above the others in the west, were most Germans live
Good to know. Thanks!
Hitler: I'm a centrist
conclusion: all centrists are hitler.
More like:
Hitler: I’m a centrist
Party that keeps using nazi slogans and talking points: We are centrists
Conclusion: The party might be lying
that is it exactly. Which is not the message I get from the image in OP.
their racism overrides other concerns. how fucked up is that even?
When I first read the post I was like "So you'd be alright with communism or whatever if it's only for white people?" And I started really thinking about how Sweden used to be very into solidarity and welfare and infrastructure, and then a bunch of brown people showed up and things have been getting dismantled as Nazis gain influence. I always figured populations moved left and right kind of at random, based on social trends or natural events and such. Are they really burning down this country because their xenophobia is that overwhelming?

it's amazing how being exposed to another skin tone changes some people's thinking. sad.
Emmanuel Macron, the 25th president of France, positions himself as a liberal and a centrist. When he launched his party En Marche in April 2016, he said that it was "neither right nor left". By March 2017, Macron stated that he and his party were now "both right and left".

Macron achieves NazBolism.
Who knew that reducing different political ideologies to one of two ends of a line was stupid? About the only thing that ends up working out that way are the parties willing to work within the intent and purpose of the ruling system and those just interested in gaming it and subverting it. The Trump election was a perfect example, plenty of people "on the left" ended up behaving in a way that led to a Trump win because they were more interested in subverting "a corrupt system" than working within it.
