In addition to the advantage mentioned by Zak, it also depends on the usage. A flashlight that I need every evening (dog walks) is easier to charge with the magnetic charger. Not great for the battery, but I prefer to have a fully charged flashlight when I start my walk.
Drop in chargers are also nice for that. Otoh people charge their phones with USB-C daily and that works ok I hope.
@solrize @flashlight The Skilhunt EC series has offered USB-C for several years now. I'd actually prefer the magnetic charging for a light I'm using in a harsh environment as it's more waterproof.
Wow, I just looked at the dimensions and it's much smaller than seems in that photo. That gets my attention.
It's slightly larger diameter at the head than Duracell 4AAA led lights I get from Sam's Club for about $5/ea (with batteries). I'm sure it blows those away (they have their uses, being cheap and easy to operate).
It's also not much larger than some of my 18650 flashlights.
I've been on the lookout for a thrower but I'm still leaning towards the Convoy L21B with the CULPM1 emitter.
@Perspectivist @flashlight That's certainly a more powerful thrower than the EC500, but considerably larger and without the charging and powerbank. I won't advocate one over the other since I don't know your needs.
