As weird as the title sounds, my family really dislikes me using Tuta and not Gmail. Is your family also like this?

"Come on, Sarah, can't you just be normal and use Gmail like everyone?"

  • my mom, scolding me.

If by family you mean biological family, I never really cared much what they think about anything (or about anyone). Also, I was still a little boy when I had to learn how to protect my privacy from my intrusive mom. So, yeah what anyone else may think about my choice and priorities was never that important.

If you're referring to my real family, aka the person I decided to share my life with almost 30 years ago, we're both adults and we both are fine with the other not doing things exactly like we would do them (it happens we also both care about preserving as much of our privacy), like we're fine with the other having activities we're not involved in ;)

thats wierd to me. my brother is not even techie but he grabbed a dns name. Most people, including family, think its kinda cool.

Whoa. These comments are quick to jump to "your parent doesn't love you" or talking about divorce. Chill out, folks.

“Come on, Sarah, can’t you just be normal and use Gmail like everyone?”

my mom, scolding me.

I don't know the context, but... that doesn't seem like something that should hold your Mom's attention?

Maybe she's worried about something else, and the email topic is just a proxy. My Mom was the same when I really got into tech hobbies in some problematic points of my childhood.

Yep, I don't really care about this anymore. My parents are really crazy, I'm actually shocked I don't have paretal controls yet.

Mine did. I just hacked around parental controls when I was young, heh.

I will say your parents could be crazy and earnestly trying to help at the same time.

Oh, mine did too. Or stuff like the table not being quite right...

That sucks :(

gmail is objectively worse compared to smaller services in many ways.

"everyone" is computer illiterate, that's why they use gmail.

also

using gmail during a fascist takeover of your country.

The title sounds weird because it's word gore, not because of the implied meaning. Try reading what you've written.

Sorry, English is not my first language + I'm kinda sick today
