I feel like anti-intelectualism has won. People can be given free audiobooks, the physical book, etc but they refuse to read because they view reading theory as bad or some bullshit. I have a friend and she thinks "its posh" to read theory. It seems like everyone has fallen for the propaganda that the only people who read theory are rich white college students. It fucking pisses me off.

If a person won't read on their own, invite them to a regular study group and read with them. Ideally you can organize groups of 10 students max. Make sure your teachers have a good grasp of the subject matter and enjoy engaging with students.

Not the easiest thing to do, but giving people support is the best way to help them learn. You can't just throw books at people, that’s what's coming off as snobby.

Having reading lists ordered by accessibility from basic entry level scaffolding to more advanced would be nice.

Those exist and have for years

Of course they have, but spreading them every time someone expresses even the remotest interest in learning would be helpful. "Go look it up" doesn't generally make people do that.

Will they do it if you read with them? Or maybe watch movies like the motorcycle diaries with them? Find fiiction novels with communist themes? Maybe find instagram or tiktoker who makes really good videos and send them clips? Would she be more inclined to learn about/from women than men?

If they are starting at the level you mentioned there is no way that they will want to read theory right off the bat. How long did it take you to start reading theory from the first time you heard about communism?

I think sprinkling reels here and there may work to start out, I can find some accounts if you'd like

I've proposed to ban rule-breakers on a Minecraft server and they would have to read a few pages out loud for each day ban in Discord's voice chat (if they don't have a mic, then use your smartphone), to successfully have the ban overturned. I would provide screenshots or a PDF of the book to be read.

Like reading 20 pages of The Governance of China Vol. 3 to atone for a weeklong ban in lieu of waiting for it to expire. Or the entirety of Armed and Dangerous if perm-banned, lol

I've been idly thinking about writing and narrating a series of short, metaphor-heavy parables that impart basic marxist concepts
