I didn't get past the phone screening from a company that I'm extremely qualified for in my niche field. I think it's because I was incredulous when they asked me to do a 2.5 hour live coding interview, along with 6 hours of other interviews. I asked them if 6 years of relevant open source contributions was enough to validate my coding ability and they said no. Glad they didn't waste my time actually.

Land is reasonably affordable where I am, especially in terrain that's not perfectly suited for cornfields.
And weed isn't the only option. Herbs, veggies, mushrooms, coppiced timber, even secondary industries.
in the mountain of galicia you can get the same plot for 300 euros
300 € for a 2500 m² plot (0.25 ha or 0.625 acres)? That's unbelievably cheap, less than the plane ticket there.
Also my networks already have land, plus more that they're accumulating.

Peeked around there and the first thing I found that didn't have shape or accessibility issues was about 20k € per hectare, a couple more were 30k/ha.
I've seen lots of rural land in the Midwest selling for about $10k/acre ($25k/ha).

nah land here is full. my buddy found a plot for his mum, in the forest. It's 60k away from everything and its something like 50 yards on 50.

It's my understanding that some firms will recruit candidates and assign them these take home tasks just to implement their work or get consulting on their practices with no intention to hire.
They may also post job descriptions and conduct interviews to keep up appearances that the firm is growing, or to destabilize established employees, again without intention to hire.
last time i had interviews a year ago i did 3 for one company. after the third interview they said they went with someone else.
I haven't even pulled a recruiter call yet. Shit sucks. This world is fucked.
