We know it's bad. All we had to do is notice how desperate Trump has been to keep this buried.

It's going to be fun finding out what it is that he did exactly.

[–] PhilipTheBucket@quokk.au 122 points 1 week ago (1 children)

He's already been proved in court to have committed rape, and very credibly accused of having raped a 13-year-old.

I'm not saying that what's in the files is not even worse. But what's already in the public record is already enough and then some.

[–] Madison420@lemmy.world 35 points 1 week ago

The damaging part is the thousands of videos the FBI seized.

[–] tburkhol@lemmy.world 54 points 1 week ago (3 children)

My favorite conspiracy is that he & Epstein have been trafficking girls, young women, and even boys, and using the product to blackmail GOP leadership into "supporting" him. How many times since 2015 have you asked yourself, "What does Trump have on [X]?" after a private meeting and abrupt policy flip? Blackmail material is useless once it's public.

[–] Hawke@lemmy.world 17 points 1 week ago (2 children)

That’s like… one of my least favorite conspiracies. You have odd preferences.

[–] Zachariah@lemmy.world 20 points 1 week ago (9 children)

Yeah, my favorite is that Jim Morrison agreed to fake his death to get the US government off his back for how his music fueled counter culture at the time. He laid low for a little, and then re-emerged as his new persona, Glen Danzig, the leader of the horror punk band, The Misfits.

For me it’s the Gunpowder Plot but probably only because it failed.

Enron is a pretty good one too, since it resulted in the collapse of one of these shitty megacorps.

Most conspiracies are just depressing shit though like the Reichstag fire and the Business Plot.

At least MK Ultra gave us some wild stories.

Spoiler - he was actively involved in trafficking kids, not just raping them. To such a degree it might as well have been called the Trump Files. A lot of the trafficking went through Mara Lago, and a lot of the girls were picked from the international beauty pageants he used to run, by Trump himself.

There ya go, do with this information what you will. Think it will budge the evangelical Christian support? I don’t.

I doubt we will until after he and his fellow shitheads that are in it, are dead. His taxes were never formally released. He's in a lose-lose situation if he releases them, because they're going to be very bad.

[–] Bigfish@lemmynsfw.com 20 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (3 children)

Bad like diddles kids bad, or bad like trafficks kids bad, or bad like is actively part of the blackmail scheme the trafficking and diddling kids enables bad? The last one is the only part that explains the "loyalty" his party (and to lesser extent the opposition party leadership, certain media enterprises, etc) has been providing him.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 week ago

Cliche, but yes.

He was one of the most prolific child sex traffickers in history. Not only did he rape them himself, on hundreds of occasions, he bought and sold them as sex slaves. And the vast majority of his victims were white, American, Christian children.

I'd rather LOSE ALL MY HEALTHCARE AND FOOD then to Allow Trump to be found GUILTY of RAPING LITTLE CHILDREN!

-Literally EVERY SINGLE REPUBLICAN VOTER!

[–] Bytemeister@lemmy.world 24 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I’d rather LOSE ~~ALL MY~~ EVERYONE'S HEALTHCARE AND FOOD ~~then~~ than to Allow Trump to be found GUILTY of RAPING LITTLE CHILDREN!

Fixed it for you.

[–] wunami@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago

"then" is incredibly accurate for the spelling and grammar level of MAGA peons though.

He was quite obviously a trafficker and a child rapist. How do these people get through a day?

Meanwhile, Shuster says “more than 100+ Republicans” are preparing to side with Democrats on a bipartisan discharge petition led by Reps. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) and Thomas Massie (R-Ky.). The petition, which would force a vote to release the Epstein documents, is just one signature away from success.

So we might even get to see it.

[–] MourningDove@lemmy.zip 26 points 1 week ago (6 children)

I’ve said before- the best damage control they could possibly do, is to throw fueher trump under the bus. Because they’re seeing now- the results of their decision to circle the wagons.

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It might be too late to go back. Everyone knows they're Nazis now. This is his second term.

[–] CanadaPlus@lemmy.sdf.org 4 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Yeah, how many people in his movement change their mind, how many decide it's all fake news, and how many decide it's just the cost of doing business is a real question.

People outside the MAGA movement have already been sidelined, of course.

And Trump is not really the one in charge, he's merely the front man. The real power in charge are the oligarchs.

These will never be seen. This is the kind of stuff people get assassinated over ... Likely people already have been assassinated over it.

[–] CoolCat@lemmy.world 20 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I know of at least one person who's been assassinated over this.

[–] Wilco@lemmy.zip 13 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Does his last name start with an "E" by chance?

[–] jumjummy@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago

[–] I_am_10_squirrels@beehaw.org 8 points 1 week ago

[–] MedicPigBabySaver@lemmy.world 33 points 1 week ago

Release the Trump/Epstein files

[–] AlexLost@lemmy.world 31 points 1 week ago

So they are just getting up to speed on what the rest of us have known for years now. Cool. Do something about it.

[–] atro_city@fedia.io 28 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Just fucking release them. Stop teasing.

[–] shalafi@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago

The DOJ is under Trump, so that's a non-starter. Speaker Johnson is keeping the House closed down so our new Congresswoman from Arizona can't get sworn in and cast the deciding vote to force release.

[–] panda_abyss@lemmy.ca 19 points 1 week ago (1 children)

How can it be worse than we all thought?

Did they honestly think he was only in the files thousands of times (I assume it’s that high since they had that many agents redacting his name) just for being best friends with the pedophile running a massive human trafficking ring?

If they’re drinking their own koolaid they’re fucked.

This is Trump's DOJ and reps from Trump's party reporting this?

MAGA is all about fire hoses of horror and disinformation. If conservative-owned, left-leaning mainstream media is reporting on this and info is being attributed to assumed loyalists, then there is something WAY worse going on or about to happen that isn't being reported, isn't there?

At this point, I can't tell if I need to take off my tin-foil hat or if Rowdy Roddy just nut-smashed some glasses on me. Good lord, I need a nap.

[–] pelespirit@sh.itjust.works 17 points 1 week ago (1 children)

No need for tin foil hats, it's really bad in those files.

“A few GOP house members say they’ve heard from FBI/DOJ contacts that the Epstein files (with copies in different agencies) are worse than Michael Wolff’s description of Epstein photos showing Trump with half naked teenage girls,” Shuster wrote.

That comment points to an earlier interview with Trump biographer Michael Wolff, who told the Daily Beast in October that he had personally seen “about a dozen Polaroid snapshots” of Trump and Epstein. Wolff said the photos showed Trump with “several topless young women on his lap,” and that Epstein “pulled the photos out of a safe and spread them out like a deck of cards” while Wolff was visiting. According to the author, Epstein wanted him to write a book about his life.

If that sounds incriminating, Shuster’s report suggests the DOJ’s files could be even worse.

[–] fartographer@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago

Yes, but the fact that every time we hear about something unimaginably horrible and shocking, it turns out that something even more horrible and shocking was happening in the background.

Which is why I say with paranoia, "tin foil hat's saying there's something worse than the thing that's worse than Polaroids of Trump with naked children."

[–] W3dd1e@lemmy.zip 14 points 1 week ago (3 children)

Something along these lines?

[–] titanicx@lemmy.zip 5 points 1 week ago

Is that Donald j Trump, current president of the United States, and Jeffrey r Epstein, Best friend and fellow child rapist?

[–] Atlas_@lemmy.world 7 points 1 week ago (8 children)

Government is shut down anyways - best ever time to make a new one?

[–] Wilco@lemmy.zip 10 points 1 week ago (2 children)

This is actually the Republican plan.

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 week ago

It's lots of people's plan. Nearly every actual human dislikes the corporate-owned government, and it's been an oligarchy for ages.

A successful revolution will need the support of many people who were right about the problem but wrong about the solution.

Is there another article about this? The Daily Boulder doesn't have the best credibility

[–] turdcollector69@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

Anytime you see "X group is panicking over Y" they're almost certainly not.

Look at conservative news outlets and you'll see articles claiming that liberals are panicking over some random bullshit that nobody is actually talking about in liberal circles.

Whenever you see oppositional coverage or gross over editorializing you can be safe in ignoring it because it's just slop propaganda.
