Breadtube if it didn't suck.

Post videos you genuinely enjoy and want to share, duh. Celebrate the diversity of interests shared by chapochatters by posting a deep dive into Venetian kelp farming, I dunno. Also media criticism, bite-sized versions of left-wing theory, all the stuff you expected. But I am curious about that kelp farming thing now that you mentioned it.

Low effort / spam videos might be removed, especially weeb content.

There is a cytube that you can paste videos into and watch with whoever happens to be around. It's open submission unless there's something important to commandeer it with at the time.

A weekly watch party happens every Saturday (Sunday down under), with video nominations Saturday-Monday, voting Monday-Thursday. See the pin for whatever stage it's currently in.

record scratch

ok, wtf, at 1 minute he says the 1BR apartment is like ~325 sq ft. 18 cats in that space? goddam, the cat drama alone must be unprecedented. and like, how many pounds of turds are grtting hauled out every 6 hours?

im a soft touch and i would adopt every animal ever, but i established a personal rule of no more than 1.5 cats per human actively invested in their welfare where the cat number must round down to the nearest integer.

so silwa and his wife could do 3 cats in that place and that would pencil out as not being cat crazy. ive been on farms with grain storage where theres like a cluster of 5-6 mercenary cats given kibble to keep mice and voles from going wild and half a dozen cats coming out of their hidey holes in a massive 2000 sqft shed to get their morning kibble is intense with them all shouting, climbing up pants, ramming you or squabbling with each other about who was where first.

but 18? in literally 325 sq feet? that's legitimately fucked.

Gracie Mansion is ~11,000 square feet (not sure if that is the interior space or the total estate). I did some rough math and calculated that he could own 594 cats if he maintained the same cat density after winning the mayoral race. party-cat

I would like to believe that this was his plan all along. In the last quarter of the video, Curtis talks about his advocacy for spreading "cat colonies" around NYC to combat the rat problems. He says that Democrats opposed his cat colonies. He wanted to be Mayor for the cats.

Eric Adams got a trip to Istanbul, Silwa wants to turn NYC into Istanbul!

I like where his head is at with the cat colonies but unfortunately feral cats mostly leave rats alone. Rats, especially NYC street rats, are huge. They’re too big for cats to effectively deal with.

Cats are fantastic at dealing with mice, but not rats

More like 609.2:

  • 18 cats divided by 325 square feet equals a density of about 0.055384615 cats per square foot (not rounding off for any significant figures; this isn't chemistry, and my calculator only goes to 9 decimal places)
  • 11,000 square feet times 0.055384615 cats/sq. ft. = 609.2307692 cats

If we limit to five significant digits (based on Gracie Mansion's square footage, albeit using your estimate), it still comes out to a touch over 609.

Thats a lot of cats, but a studio in my neighborhood was just found to have 45 cats (the resident was elderly and had been in the hospital for a week before people realized the cat-astrophe)

Two people living on 325 sqft seems already pretty tight.

It's fucked up but as long as they don't live in squalor and take them to vet and stuff, its better than not being alive.

I admire it but have a similar rule because more than 2 pets of any kind has caused massive housing issues for me in the past when trying to rent.

I wondered how he was allowed to even keep that many but I always thought of those houses as like apartments because they're so smashed together. Never really considered people buy them.

It is a house, right?

wild that they have carpet they need to get floorboards imagine how much cat hair is just piling up in there

Not to mention piss soaking through the padding if the litter boxes aren't kept immaculate and if the cats never have accidents

Also puke and bile and hairball residue that doesn't all come up when you shampoo the rugs; if you shine a blacklight in there, it's going to look so, so much worse than a Jackson Pollock

This guy likes cats almost as much as getting stabbed.
