I once played someone who was a former grandmaster. This is about how it felt.

My biggest achievement is getting a grand master to play for 34 moves before I lost. Felt like an eternity to think and mind you the grandmaster was playing 16 games together. I would calculate next 10 moves, it will take me 15 minutes and the GM would come and look at board move in under 10 seconds and move on to fuck another player. Our local chapter head got to 41 moves before losing.

TempleOS has a Chess game but not a Chess engine - it's multiplayer only. But the "After Egypt" program uses a pseudorandom word generator to talk to god, so one time Terry played chess with it, I believe by loading a file with piece names and board positions as the dataset as well as a word to resign. It was about as good as you could expect:
