I feel like the story hasn't really settled into a groove yet since the time skip. I'm not sure where we're going.

I was thinking the same thing while reading these last few chapters. Things feel kind of disjointed and random in a way they weren't before time skips. I think there's some kind of plan, with the new girl acting all weird around Aya, but I have no idea what it is.

It feels less like a story arc and more like breadcrumbs of one, at least for me.

Yeah, same. I don't think the mangaka knows either. Hopefully they settle soon or simply end it

If they can't figure out where to go, I hope they do. Would be a waste to turn something good into something bad just to keep it going, but that is unfortunately how things tend to go.
