Venezuelan opposition leader and Nobel Prize winner Maria Corina Machado said military escalation is the "only" way to remove authoritarian President Nicolas Maduro from power.

"The increase in pressure and the escalation that's taken place is the only way to force Maduro to understand that it's time to go," and "facilitate a peaceful and orderly transition," Machado told Bloomberg.

The comments come as the Trump administration has reportedly made the decision to strike military facilities inside Venezuela, with attacks potentially taking place at any time.

Peace Prize winner says war is the answer. I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

Kissinger was awarded one too. Didn't Obama get one as well? The Nobel Peace Prize is Western spin.

She literally wants Trump to install her as the new ruler. Not sure who thought it would be a good idea to give her the peace prize :/

Nobel gave the award to an idiot. You don't get to pick your government when the US comes knocking for oil, especially now. Argentina says "Hola and Auf Wiedersehen."

“facilitate a peaceful and orderly transition,”

"Let's kill a bunch of people, so that we can then have peace"

what drugs are these people on?

yeah, how the fuck did she win a Nobel Peace prize? her intention is to leverage it for war. It’s fucking crazy.

Because she's Team Trump and Trump getting it was out of the question apparently. Perhaps it's too obvious. The Nobel Peace Prize has been given to many Western murderers, and now to their accomplices.

Confirmation a Nobel isn't proof you're smart. Sorry, just because they wanna get rid of the current one, it doesn't mean the people will like the new one.

I'm betting we're about to see the Venezuelan political pendulum swing with the impertus of a howitzer shell towards fascism.

The Peace Prize has never been about whether you're smart. She's a pro business right winger. She wants to be the puppet fascist.

I’m betting we’re about to see the Venezuelan political pendulum swing with the impertus of a howitzer shell towards fascism.

Implying it's not already fascist?

[–] mangaskahn@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Not already fascist enough

Its not about the facism its all about that nationalized oil. We're seeing the "Iraq WMD" con play out all over again.

As an American I don't fucking care. As in I do not want to get involved we got to fix our own shit.

[–] ArgumentativeMonotheist@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

America simply wouldn't exist in the way you understand it without bullying, pillaging and destabilising countries around the world for profit. For the empire, the whole world is "their own shit".

[–] Ancalagon@lemmy.world 2 points 6 days ago

Exactly what I mean by we need to fix our own shit!

[–] nymnympseudonym@piefed.social 1 points 1 week ago

That may be. Too bad USA leadership didn't bother including any of these rationales with the public
