They have drastically reduced smog levels in cities, there was a lot of attention to the air quality in Beijing when they held the Olympics in 2008, also just making healthcare easily available does wonders. I know a lot of older people who have wanted to move to a more rural area but are afraid they'd be fucked when an ambulance might take 45 minutes to get there while they're stroking out.

The west literally blamed China for more apparent global warming because i guess all the smog was kind of hiding some of the effects of climate change
