Juneteenth being the "least favorite day" for 13% of people is... Very telling.

Yeah that and the MLK day were very telling.

Yep, culturally juneteenth may not be super relevant to me. I still support it and don't dislike it. Disliking it just seems weird. What's to dislike? Right? Likewise MLK.

Columbus though all my fellow first nations say fuck Columbus. And support everyone else in saying it.

The results of the survey are sad but I must say the phrasing is weird. "Least-favorite" doesn't necessarily mean "dislike". I'd have probably said "Columbus Day" or "MLK" is my least favorite since I don't get the day off and it's not something I personally celebrate. I do not however dislike MLK day... I've always been surprised and a bit saddened that it wasn't a holiday at my company. It seemed disrespectful to someone and something worthy of a holiday. They did get a little better and make Juneteenth a holiday at least, which surprised me.

Not sure how the survey was done so don't know if participants were forced to rank them all from most to least favorite or not. If so being least favorite doesn't mean dislike or necessarily have a negative connotation. However if the survey actually used the term "dislike" I wouldn't necessarily be surprised by the same results, sadly.

Superball Sunday you say very telling.

It's actually 14% and is the biggest negative percentage for any holiday, with only Super Bowl Sunday being close in terms of dislike at 13%.

This country is so fucking racist.

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 8 points 1 week ago

Superbowl Sunday has a similar negative number but I bet it's a very different demographic. Big rise in domestic violence on Superbowl Sunday, but Juneteenth doesn't harm anyone. Even if you're not into it, you could easily ignore it, so the only reason to bitch about it is pure racism. Unless they're butthurt about being reminded "your side lost."

Right? Like who the fuck says that? That’s pretty scary

[–] tdawg@lemmy.world 17 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Super bowl Sunday is not a holiday but sure

[–] njm1314@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

It's my holy day

Honestly it's about as much a holiday as Halloween is

[–] astropenguin5@lemmy.world 9 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Interesting that Valentine's day has an even split lol

[–] idiomaddict@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

They’re all married to each other, too. We really should have planned this better

[–] astropenguin5@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Id guess a decent amount of the least favorite day people are just the super lonely incel types, but youre also right lol

3% hate labor day

well I think I have a new test

[–] BierSoggyBeard@feddit.online 5 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Who the fuck are the 9% who hate Halloween?!?! What is wrong with these "people?"

[–] Hylactor@sopuli.xyz 5 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Cops, paramedics, nurses, ER doctors?

[–] BierSoggyBeard@feddit.online 2 points 1 week ago

Ok, that's fair. I can see that.

[–] ouRKaoS@lemmy.today 2 points 1 week ago

As a first responder, the 4th of July is the worst, NYE is 2nd, Halloween isn't that bad. The teenager "devil's night" shenanigans have never really been a thing in my area, but 9mm 'fireworks' are real, and they come down and hit people.

"based on 1000 us adults" at a evangelist conference

[–] shukufuku@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 week ago

Why do the least and most add up to more than 100%?

[–] PyroNeurosis@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'm surprised Thanksgiving is tied for the least disliked - it has a reputation for being trying.

[–] frezik@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 week ago

Might be a lot of people who won't admit that they hate their family. Possibility not even to themselves.

Alternatively, Lemmy skews the results towards us Millennials who don't like their parents. I have one person in my circle of friends with a normal, healthy relationship with their parents.

Is this controlled for days the person has off of work?

[–] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 week ago

I bet Election Day would be a lot more popular if it really were a holiday, with most people off and extra pay for those who have to work.
