Hey everyone,

A few years ago I started a Steam Group with one goal, to figure out how to get Garry Newman’s attention and convince him to come back for a day, so people could finally earn the “Yes, I am the real Garry!” achievement legitimately.

I tried reaching out a few times, but never got through. So instead of waiting forever, I decided to make something positive out of it.

I’ve launched a Tiltify fundraising event for Child’s Play. We’re already sitting at $484 USD raised, and I’d love for more Garry's Mod fans to get involved.

For the uninitiated, Child’s Play is a charity that provides games, consoles, and entertainment to children’s hospitals and domestic violence shelters around the world. It’s been helping kids escape difficult realities through play for over 20 years, something every gamer can relate to.

Wait, so the achievement is just to get Gary Newman to say hes the real gary? How is that recognized in the game?

IIRC you get the achievement when you play on a server while Gary is online there

And it is recognized in game by comparing the steam user ID of the other players on the server. Which means if someone else spoofs their name it won't work. But if real Garry is there, achievement confirming it is him
