we only have a right to an attorney if we are faced with criminal charges AND cannot afford a lawyer.
most of us haven’t really thought about who we’d call if we ever needed a lawyer. i found myself in a terrifying situation last year, then again this summer, in which i needed a lawyer. they are not easy to find and if you do call one, they will not call you back. rich people have lawyers in their networks, we do not have those networks.
we do not have those other “rights” if we can’t afford to sue the cops
mMore than Half of Americans Mistakenly Think They Have a Right to an Attorney in All Civil Cases
Not sure exactly which video your talking about. To be clear on the right to a lawyer tho. There is a difference between having a right to a lawyer at trial and having a right to not answer questions without an attorney present. If you cannot get an attorney while being questioned you still stop them from questioning you further by saying you wont answer any questions without one. At which point you say you'll use your right to remain silent and nothing else.
Also this wasnt some sort of like oh the US legal system is so fair and you have rights so use them post. It was more like a educate yourself on how to make it as hard as possible to for the cops to fuck you over post.
