yup.

due to imperialism and our own comprador capitalists, our crops are meant for export and profit first, food second.

with the tariffs they are forced to sell it to us. and they are forced to price it in reais, not dollars.

trump is throwing even our loyal (to them) burgeoise under the bus and i don't think he even gave it a thought.

it's simply delicious.

Brazilian here.

A year ago, the prices of food were through the roof, public opinion was against Lula and there were protests because of it all.

Now?

The far right is sinking faster than the Bismark, Lula is in a good position to be reelected without a run-off election and prices are going down again (we even had a bit of deflation in August).

A lot of this has to do with The Orange Pustule's reaction to the conviction of his criminal friend Boslonaro. In the end, Drumpf is the best campaign manager Lula could hope for.

This makes me happy that even though the country i live in is really shitting the bed right now, our shitting is having SOME positive outcome for others in the global community.

Fuck Drumpf.

I'd love for some more direct trade from us here in Canada to the other countries in the Americas, specially coffee!

Mercosur-EFTA-CA-SEA global free trade regime let's go

Works for me

can confirm. the nationalistic anti-tax push lula had to go into publicly in recent weeks shot his popularity up.

the fascists are grasping at straws. thanks for weakening brazilian fascism!

nice, he's successfully lowered food prices!

I wonder how much America needs to dismantle itself and plunge its people into hell to make up for its share of the net evil caused from the end of WWII...?

("net evil" because there's some good and bad, and "share" because a lot of other countries participated...)

Let's go! Make Latin America Great Again!

[–] Greddan@feddit.org 22 points 2 days ago

Honestly, I think, if handled right, the fall of the U.S could be a huge boon to central and south america. That is of course as long as the flailing empire doesn't decide on invading.

[–] relativestranger@feddit.nl 58 points 2 days ago (1 children)

the turd-for-brains never said where he'd lower grocery prices.

[–] altphoto@lemmy.today 4 points 2 days ago

But it is good. That part.

I feel like I'll still see you all later at the gas chamber. I'll be the guy scratching the paint desperately as my charred left leg drags behind my hops.

TRUMP WAS RIGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING

[–] But_my_mom_says_im_cool@lemmy.world 27 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I’m in Canada and I’m hoping for more direct trade that excludes that US, there was the whole “buy Canadian” movement and I dig it, but it should be “don’t buy American” i don’t have a problem buying European or South American goods. Hopefully that would lower prices on non American items.

The tariffs have lifted on our end and American products have dropped back in price, but im still going to avoid them.

[–] FauxPseudo@lemmy.world 24 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I was under the impression that the lower prices were going to be for Americans. I guess he technically kept his promise.

[–] massive_bereavement@fedia.io 22 points 2 days ago

Make America Great Again didn't really say which part.

[–] Clent@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 day ago

Amazing. I need this in a meme format.

Food prices are going down in México?
Where? There was a small (very small) fall in prices in the last month but shit's going up again and just seems it will get worse... Fast.

[–] UltraMagnus0001@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Hopefully, with the excess food they can't trade to other countries we'll get a food discount in America. 🤣🤣🤣

I know capitalism is all about greed and they'll find a way to make money rather than give it us.

[–] acchariya@lemmy.world 4 points 1 day ago

Yay cow corn and feed grade soybeans!

[–] entropicdrift@lemmy.sdf.org 1 points 1 day ago
