1. Relevant commentary on your own dull life. Posts should be about your own dull, lived experience. This is our most important rule. Direct questions, random thoughts, comment baiting, advice seeking, many uses of "discuss" rarely comply with this rule.

2. Original, Fresh, Meaningful Content.

3. Avoid repetitive topics.

4. This is not a search engine
Use a search engine, a tradesperson, Reddit, friends, a specialist Facebook group, apps, Wikipedia, an AI chat, a reverse image search etc. to answer simple questions or identify objects. Also see rule 1, “comment baiting”.

There are a number of content specific communities with subject matter experts who can help you.

Some other communities to consider before posting:

5. Keep it dull. If it puts us to sleep, it’s on the right track. Examples of likely not dull: jokes, gross stuff (including toes), politics, religion, royalty, illness or injury, killing things for fun, or promotional content. Feel free to post these elsewhere.

6. No hate speech, sexism, or bullying No sexism, hate speech, degrading or excessively foul language, or other harmful language. No othering or dehumanizing of anyone or negativity towards any gender identity.

7. Proofread before posting. Use good grammar and punctuation. Avoid useless phrases. Some examples: - starting a post with "So" - starting a post with pointless phrases, like "I hope this is allowed" or “this is my first post” Only share good quality, cropped images. Do not share screenshots of images; share the original image.

I work on my feet almost every day, so I wear through socks like nobody's business. Jogging is one of my main forms of physical activity, and that certainly does not help my socks last either. Around the house I'm always wearing socks. I need a new pack of socks nearly once a month just to keep up. Prices are going up too, and I don't want to buy socks like this anymore.

I received some wool socks for my birthday that lasted notably longer than cotton socks, but I tore through these too in a few weeks. Finally, after wearing through another pack of ten, I decided to try some purpose-built work crew socks.

Here you might expect me to write about how much better these socks are, but I don't know yet. I hope they will last longer.

Around the house I'm always wearing socks.

Kinda curious; why?

The only time I have socks on is when I have shoes on, mostly to absorb sweat. As soon as I get home and take my shoes off, socks come off too.

I can’t stand the feeling of anything touching my feet. Perhaps it’s about control. I never remove them except for bathing. At the beach it’s socks and sandals in the water.

Darn tough socks are fantastic for quality/longevity, their guarantee/replacement policy makes them 100% worth it. Plus they are super comfy and great quality socks to boot. I invested in about 20 pairs over the years and haven't purchased anything else since because they hold up amazing

Came here to say this. And my understanding is that they have a lifetime warranty. Beware of counterfeits though!

I was regularly getting 20k+ steps in every day with lots of stairs and ladders (power plant operator) and it made a massive difference when I got a couple pair as a gift. I bought more so I can go a week without doing laundry and I never have to wear Hanes at work again lol.

These are my new ones! I didn’t want to put the brand in the post proper so as not to appear promotional.

Definitely pricey, but definitely worth it. The guarantee itself is worth it.

I bought 2 pairs from them (thin sport socks for summer), and one broke after only 4 uses, and the other after about 10. Worst socks I have ever owned.

I moved away though so I never got a chance to use the replacement policy, but they may have replaced them for me (though the chances of getting two seriously defective socks of different models at the same time is low)

They are probably actually fine for their normal, thick wool socks because my Smartwool and REI branded socks have lasted over 10 years with vigorous hiking in them for the first 5. I have to recommend to avoid their thin socks though.

I won't buy their thin socks. You have to go with mid weight or more. I've been buying DT socks for my family and me for 10 years, and have had occasion to use the warranty only twice. Both times got new pairs for free, as advertised. I spent a long time trying to find better wool socks, and could not. Best dang socks on the market...

I have purchased so many different styles for me and my family and haven't had a single pair with any issues. That's really unfortunate you had such a shitty experience with your socks

Surprisingly, the lack of climax felt really nice.

[–] henfredemars@infosec.pub 5 points 1 week ago

I wish I heard that sentiment more often at my age.

Keep in mind the better socks you buy, the

That sums it up really well, thank you

I can't believe people didn't know that

You know me too well.

but I don’t know yet.

I expect your final report in due time.

I will report back here in a few months to make another post!

[–] DrDystopia@lemy.lol 2 points 1 week ago

I am currently pondering setting up an alarm notification in my calendar app for a couple of months from now.

[–] DrDystopia@lemy.lol 5 points 1 week ago

These types of socks won't wear out in a couple of weeks. I guarantee it.

[–] terry_jerry@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 week ago

Good luck with the socks. This post has reminded me that I too need more socks...

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 4 points 1 week ago

Same problem.

Please return to tell us how long they lasted!

BTW, shoes seem to have an effect on socks. Too loose, slightly torn at the heel etc.

[–] YottaDren@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Remember to throw it all other socks to save some time when finding pairs!

[–] zout@fedia.io 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Have been almost exclusively wearing work crew socks for two years now, and not a single hole yet. Though I'm not on my feet as much as you probably are.

[–] henfredemars@infosec.pub 2 points 1 week ago

Here’s hoping!

Better socks make every shoe a better shoe.
