Found a great link for exploring retro aesthetics. Here's cassette futurism:

They've got great examples for lots of other trends like Corporate Hippie:

Watch this LGR video if you want to learn more about the Omnibot 2000

You know it’s the future when it says “2000” on it.

Oh man I wanted that thing so bad when I was a kid.

I had the less-cool but still really cool Verbot.

Awesome thing! It might be fun to know that "verbot" means "ban"/"prohibition" in German 😁

That's so very cool.

I like how cleverly designed this portable tv is. The conical shape necessitated by the CRT has been made to feel like a feature and not a bug.

I had one of these!! Wow... I'd totally forgotten about it. I believe that was a pull out drinks tray on the front. I remember carrying it around by those neck handles cos it kept getting stuck in corners 🤣

Oh man. I remember vividly when I, back the 90s, learned Japanese (not because of anime) through a university-program that assigned you a Japanese and they teached you Japanese while you teached them German. So one day this awesome dude pulled out a Sony ebook. And used it like it was just a cup of tea. My eyes fell out, we didn't have ebooks for another 20yrs.

Of course it was a fat brick, but he had everything on it and it was so mighty cool. This day I thought hard about emigration and felt like we were in the darn midage 😑

I remember wanting one of these when I was younger

There's no way in the world that I could have ever afforded it though
