Paper mache over a light wire mesh frame
Don't over complicate things
i'm hoping i can build it to be a bit more durable than papier mache
A coat of lacquer makes it surprisingly tough
I used to make shit for movies, and I promise that fibreglass will be way too heavy
You could always use a polyurethane foam
That shit's amazing
you have a specific lacquer you recommend? i just spent half an hour in the garage playing with really bendy thin plywood. also, you're not steve are you?
I'm not Steve
It's been a long time since I've worked with lacquers, I'm sure technology has changed a bit
i bought my trike a few months ago from a steve who used to make shit for movies, out near santa cruz ca. It would be remarkably serendipitous to be getting advice from the same dude. gave me a little chuckle for a moment.
anyways, thanks so much for the advice. I've got to figure out precisely how i'm going to mount everything (i have a specific type of clamp in mind that i want to buy) but i like your suggestions. should i lacquer both sides of the paper (one at a time)?
