Yeah it's a trait with authoritarianism in general. Feudal lords did it too.
Say what you will about feudalism I don't think they purity tested people on fervor for feudalism.
Now, having loyalty to the wrong aristocrat, sure. The wrong one today who was the right one yesterday, of course. The wrong god, obviously, but everyone does that.
Being a (small r) republican? Oh, you know that's an execution.
But not being enough of a monarchist?
Also yes, if your alliance of smaller lords tries to limit the king's power with not enough troops.

Not for not believing hard enough in the right kind of feudalism!
Ever heard of The Inquisition? That was nothing but a purity test. I'm pretty sure the phrase "purity test" comes straight out of the middle ages and therefore feudalism. I will cite The damn Puritans as a potential source.
Pretty sure you could get accused of being a witch for not being willing to accuse others of being witches, hence a purity test of furvor.
I didn't say feudalists didn't purity test people, I said they didn't do it on the basis of their belief in the right kind of feudalism.
Unless you want to count loyalty to each noble as a different kind of feudalism which is arguably true enough.

If these people knew real history (not their made up fantasy of the “good times”) they wouldn’t be dumb fascists.
You might be a bigot but there is always someone more bigoted than you. Reminds me of this anti-LGBTQ demonstration in Turkey where one group was playing loud music and then some other more religious group came and started fighting with them because "it is a sin to play music so loudly".
I wish this wasn't such a good point.
