I've never actually read a Dan Brown book or watched the Da Vinci Code. I've got some vague idea that he writes about historical conspiracy kinda stuff (which sounds about right looking at this article). Are his books any good, or are they overrated?

I personally think he is highly overrated, but if you think of him as an airport thriller writer, who has no real intention to be accurate in his depiction of things in his books, you'd rate him fairly.

I think that's a very accurate description.

I read them a long time ago, in my younger days, but from what I recall they were fun conspiracy thrillers. Not sure if they will hold up now, but I enjoyed them when I read them. I am very easy to please though, I even liked the Twilight Saga, only stopped liking them when the internet told me how wrong I am to like them 😀

That's reasonable! Hell, if you enjoy a book just read it and don't worry about what others think

That's what I try to do now, but we all were young once 😀

Are his books any good?

I have only attempted to read one, The Davinci Code. So I can’t speak for all his books.

I made it about 300 pages into the books before I literally got out of my reading chair, walked outside to my outside trash can and tore the book apart and threw it in the trash.

The book was a steaming pile of dogshit.

Lmao, in which case I shall avoid him! I've got plenty of other (well regarded) books to read instead :')
